The library is the hub of the elementary school, providing students and staff with traditional materials and online resources for personal and academic enrichment. It’s the place where students come to expand their minds, read for personal pleasure, and fortify learning with an extensive collection of children’s literature and resources supportive of the classroom curriculum.
The elementary library curriculum is designed to promote an appreciation of literature and provide students with basic library skills necessary to become more effective users of information. Students and staff have access to more than more than 6,000 books, nearly a dozen periodicals, and over 200 audiovisual materials. They are also able to search the library collections of all seven school buildings across the Hamburg Area School District. In addition to the physical collection, the library offers online resources, including the Internet, POWER Library, and ACCESS PA, which help expand the regular collection by virtually millions of titles.
