My Home Page

  • Greetings from the world of careers!

My name is Mrs. Benz (yes, just like the Mercedes-Benz car), and I came to Hamburg Area in January of 2011.  I have two daughters; Erin is a junior American Studies major at Washington College (eastern shore of Maryland), and Seana graduated in 2014 from Muhlenberg College, double majoring in Theatre and Music. I hate to cook, but love to eat.  And I still play my flute & piccolo, in a community band.

As the district's Career Education Specialist, I have the absolutely best job. It's my responsibility to make sure that every student who walks across the stage at graduation has a life plan, which he or she cannot wait to start!

I see my role as that of making CONNECTIONS.  I want to connect with students and parents, so that I better understand what is important to you.  I help students make connections with people in careers, so that they see the vast options available. By connecting with employers in our community, I learn what skills are in demand and I share what great students we have here at Hamburg Area.  When I'm not out making these various connections, you can find me in the glass-walled office within the High School Library.
