🎓 Opportunity is knocking for Hamburg students and teachers… will you answer it?
The Hamburg Area Education Foundation is now accepting applications for 2026 Opportunity Grants, and these grants are designed to help students and teachers turn great ideas into real experiences.
For students, this could mean attending a summer camp that sparks a new passion… or launching a community service project that makes a difference right here in Hamburg.
For teachers, HAEF is offering Teacher Opportunity Grants of up to $500 to support classroom programs that enhance learning. Funding can be used for materials, special projects, or educational activities that bring new ideas and experiences into the classroom.
Every year, these grants help students explore new interests and help teachers create memorable learning opportunities. Now it’s time for the next round of ideas.
📅 Application Deadline: April 10
Eligible applicants include:
• Hamburg Area School District students applying for Student Opportunity Grants or Student Community Service Grants
• Hamburg Area School District teachers applying for Teacher Opportunity Grants
Teachers should remember to submit the district grant form to their building principal for prior approval along with their HAEF application.

As we celebrate Paraprofessional Appreciation Day today, we want to extend a special thank you to the dedicated paraprofessionals at Perry Elementary. Your hard work, support, and care for our students is essential to their success and well-being. We are grateful for the contributions you make every day to ensure that our students receive the best education possible. Thank you for all you do and Happy Paraprofessional Day!!

On Tuesday, Perry staff had a Rock,Paper,Scissors showdown. All staff members received a beaded necklace at the start of the day and were encouraged to challenge other staff members throughout the day to a rock, paper,scissors game. Winner of each game got the other person's necklace. Once you lost, you were out of the showdown. Staff members with the most necklaces at the end of the day met up on the staircase for the ultimate showdown and our winner was Mrs Koller!!!

Do you have a child, or know a family, interested in enrolling in the BCIU Pre-K Counts and Head Start Program? BCIU is now accepting applications for families in the Hamburg Area School District for the 2026–2027 school year. Please see the attached flyer for more details.

Perry 5th grade students attended the Innovation field trip at the high school today. Thank you to Mr. King, Mr. Brown and Mr. Borger for explaining the different options the high school has to offer and allowing the students hands-on experience.

‼️LOST AND FOUND ‼️

We are asking for your help in identifying these poor lost items. They are all desperately looking to be reunited with their owner's. We will wave all fees to get these lost little babies back to who they belong. 🥰

We will have a table set up with all lost and found items, for anyone that will be coming in for a conference. If you recognize any of these items, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Bauer at stebau@hasdhawks.org, and she will set the item aside for your child

🎉🎁We're half way to July so we decided to celebrate those students who have a birthday in July! 🎈🥳

Today we celebrate one of our brave kindergarten students as he shares what it is like for him to have Tourettes Syndrome. Students learned about common involuntary tics and other signs and symptoms. Thank you to Sherrie Wivell from PA Tourettes Syndrome Alliance for reading a book to the group to help us better understand about individual differences and what makes people with Tourettes special.
