Yesterday on Hawk Hill, under clear blue skies, Hamburg Area School District hosted the 2026 Hawk Olympics, a special education track and field event for students in Berks County. The event promotes camaraderie, competition, and inclusivity. This event would not be possible without support from many who invested their time and resources, including:
Kristin Newpher (Event Coordinator)
Rob Marra
Tracy Herber
Hamburg Area Custodial Staff
Aaron Menapace
Our many sponsors
Our partner school districts
Our many student and staff volunteers
Without your help, this event would not be possible! Congratulations to all athletes!

First, a massive Happy National School Lunch Heroes Day to our incredible cafeteria team: Mrs. Krick, Mrs. Dissinger, and Mrs. Schaeffer! We are so grateful for the care you put into every meal. You give our students the fuel they need to learn and grow, always served with a smile. Thank you for making our cafeteria such a welcoming place for the Perry Family! 🍎🥪
We are also proud to recognize our amazing leader, Mrs. Berger, for National School Principal’s Day! Mrs. Berger, thank you for being patient, caring, engaging, and dedicated. Your knowledgeable leadership and heart for our students and staff are what make Perry Elementary such a special place to come to every single day. 🐾⭐

Thank you to Mrs. Lash, Mrs. Kutzura, Mrs. Berger, and Miss Jackson for taking some time out of their day at the Middle School to present on the topic in such an engaging manner. Also, a special thank you to Lukas for reading a Braille story to the students and sharing about his experiences as a visually impaired student.

The Hamburg Area Education Foundation is now accepting applications for 2026 Opportunity Grants, and these grants are designed to help students and teachers turn great ideas into real experiences.
For students, this could mean attending a summer camp that sparks a new passion… or launching a community service project that makes a difference right here in Hamburg.
For teachers, HAEF is offering Teacher Opportunity Grants of up to $500 to support classroom programs that enhance learning. Funding can be used for materials, special projects, or educational activities that bring new ideas and experiences into the classroom.
Every year, these grants help students explore new interests and help teachers create memorable learning opportunities. Now it’s time for the next round of ideas.
📅 Application Deadline: April 10
Eligible applicants include:
• Hamburg Area School District students applying for Student Opportunity Grants or Student Community Service Grants
• Hamburg Area School District teachers applying for Teacher Opportunity Grants
Teachers should remember to submit the district grant form to their building principal for prior approval along with their HAEF application.
✨ Great ideas deserve a chance to grow.
Should you know a student with a dream for summer learning… or a teacher with a classroom idea that could make a real impact… please encourage them to apply.
Let’s help Hamburg students and educators make the most of this opportunity.
