Learning Philosophy

  • Students coming to kindergarten all learn at different rates and in multiple ways. They are also at varying levels academically, socially, and developmentally. In order to meet the needs of all learners, your child’s learning experience will be personalized. This includes information being presented in a variety of ways, engaging in content through means that interests them, and demonstrating what they’ve learned in diverse forms. The progressions are the standards and learning goals your child will be working on this year at their own pace.

Learning most often takes place in small groups or individually. When they are not working with the teacher in small groups, learners are working individually or cooperatively with their learning goals; they will have choices for activities during this time.

Your child’s learning is student-centered and driven in order to build ownership over their learning. This will create independence and useful habits that develop life-long learners.

The beginning of the school year focuses on rules, procedures, getting to know each other and the classroom/school as well as how to work independently and collaboratively.
