Title I Homework
-
For Everyone
-
Read each and every day for at least 15 minutes. Make sure your book is not too easy or too hard (remember the Goldilocks Rule or the Five-Finger Rule!) Don't forget to tell Mrs. Easter about anything interesting that you read.
Kindergarten
-
Read to your child each and every night. Hearing you read fluently, with expression and enthusiasm, hearing robust vocabulary, and simply enjoying a good story with someone they love will go a long way to instilling not only reading skills but the love of reading in your child.
-
Read any books that come home with your child.
First & Second Grade
-
A story book from LLI (Fountas & Pinnell's Leveled Literacy Interventions) will come home each night. Your child has already read this story in class more than once. Please listen to your child read this book and look for fluency and expression. Ask your child questions about the book (setting, characters, problem/solution, moral, or main idea and some key details.) Enjoy listening to your child read and seeing their confidence grow!
