Parent Involvement

  • Parent Involvement

As a parent you can support your child and assist them in many ways on their educational journey! We are a team and I am here to assist you in any way I possibly can.

    * Parental involvement can be beneficial to the academic and behavioral progress of your child.

    * Your encouragement can affect your child's attitude towards school and motivation. Please stay positive!

    * Ask questions, circle homework problems that were difficult for the child so I can keep track and write a note if needed on the homework. I will work with your child to clarify any areas needed.

    Ways to help your child

    * Check your child's agenda every night and initial it once the work is finished

    * Use the agenda to write notes and communicate with the teacher

    * Even if it is not an assignment you can read each night with your child to help them find their passion for reading and to improve their fluency and comprehension

    * Check with the PTO to see if volunteer opportunities work with your schedule

    * Watch the school calendar for meetings that you may be able to attend

    Communication

    * Two-way communication is important. It is a team effort between the parent and the teacher to find what is best for your child.

    * One-way communication can occur with news letters or updates to the teacher website for each month.

    * Communication can happen via note, phone call, or a scheduled meeting/conference

    * Communication logs may be useful to share daily progress for specific students. These logs can be used by both the teacher and parent to share news throughout the week.
