My Professional Information

  • I am a 1994 graduate of Pottsville Area High School, where I played softball for 4 years and was a captain during my senior year.  I was also an officer for our concert choir, a member of Student Council for 4 years, and was involved in various other clubs.

I continued my education at Penn State University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education-Mathematics option in 1999.  I began my teaching career in the Schuylkill Valley middle school teaching 6th grade accelerated math.

I taught 6th grade for one year then took a one year maternity leave that actually became a 6 year maternity leave!  My husband and I made the decision that I would stay home and raise our 3 daughters, Emily, Julia, and Alysa.

In January 2007, I returned to teaching in the Hamburg Area high school part-time, where I taught Algebra II and Consumer Math.  Then in August 2008, I was hired full-time at the middle school.  Except for a one semester maternity leave in 2010 when my son was born, I have been here ever since teaching 8th grade math and Algebra I.

I received my Master's Equivalency in 2012, having earned over 36 post graduate credits in education.  I continue to take courses to stay current on new theories and strategies in education.
