American Cultures

  • American Cultures is a chronological survey of the major political, social, economic, and moral incidents and developments in the United States from 1898 to today.  Major emphasis will be placed on relating past events to current affairs that are affecting life in our culture.  Where appropriate, this course pursues, in detail, topics that contribute to the state of the culture in which we currently exist such as:  war (civil and international), immigration, economic disruptions, industrialization, environment, media influence, political confrontation, and social movements.
